What inspired you to pursue a career in your industry?
We spend a big portion of our lives in our profession. I enjoy being happy and I want to do as much good for my family and for the world as I can while I am here. In one of the first businesses I created, I went to a social event with the company. One of the employee’s children came up to me and thanked me for making their mother happy. It turns out that having this job meant a lot to that family and it really highlighted the importance of business in the community.
How did you overcome the biggest challenge you faced in building your business/advancing your career?
I sought advice from people who faced similar challenges. You can truly earn success by beating the odds. Then there is nothing that can take that away from you.
What is one key factor behind your company’s success?
Expertise and mentorship. We face major decisions all the time so we have made it our culture to ensure we get the appropriate mentorship and fill gaps in expertise if required.
How do you stay motivated and focused on your goals?
By choosing my path. If it’s not a “hell yes,” it’s a “no.”
What advice would you give to young professionals starting out in their careers or entrepreneurial endeavour?
Always keep a mindset of providing value without asking for anything in return. The best way to build trust and relationships is by being amazing to be around. If you fill up everyone’s glass around you, eventually they will overflow and fill yours too.

How do you handle setbacks or failures in business?
Treat it like education. Education is very expensive. You can pay for it with money, time or energy.
What do you think makes a great leader?
Always do what you say you are going to do. Being a great leader is earned; you are not born that way. If you are unsure where to begin, start by being a good follower.
How do you maintain a work-life balance while leading a company or team?
You have to surround yourself with the right people. Starting with your inner circle. I have an amazing wife and our kids are incredible.
What’s the best piece of career advice you’ve ever received?
It’s important to build equitable business relationships based on needs. If 2 people in a business relationship need each other equally, the chances of success are much higher.
