About Me

What inspired you to pursue a career in your industry?

Humanity is facing existential threat and there is a bifurcation of the species into a digitally literate aristocracy, splitting homo sapiens into homo digitalis and homo interpretans. I speak more about this in the 8th Deloitte Private and ArtTactic Art & Finance Report, a barometer for emerging trends and sentiment in the art and finance industry and highlights developments in the art market.

This report is intended to provide strategic guidance to family offices and other entities, regarding multi-million-dollar art collections and various cultural assets in the spirit of social impact investing and succession planning. We are the first company featured on page 88, link here: holo-art.io

Art and science, as pure disciplines, are critical in expanding our current way of thinking. We need to cultivate the next generation of artists, scientists, and creatives, with ethical technologies and strategic foresight, to mitigate cultural dilution and expand homogenous perspectives. As art and science funding is critical to the evolution of humankind, we need to create metrics that can effectively showcase the social impact of cultural shifts that open new solutions and possibilities for increased global collaboration and a more harmonious future for all.

Ultimately, I do what I do for my children. I am concerned about their future and that of other children. I also think about the elderly and the role they now play in society. I see we are in a state of arrested development as a species and need to envision differently. Given the incredible success we have seen and the caliber of people joining our team, it is imperative that we change at scale, and that the timing is right, it is now, we need to explore models that offer a new way of doing business.

How did you overcome the biggest challenge you faced in building your business/advancing your career?

There have been many challenges, one of which is being a woman in industries that are male dominated. This means often being the only woman around the table of CEOs, Board members, etc. and learning to navigate the social dynamics that come along with that scenario.

We have also been told we have a business model the world has not seen before. It is therefore challenging to translate all we do under our current siloed model of funding as we translate across disciplines and have our art feed into our science and the science into the tech. Sparking a movement for polymathy, transdisciplinarity, and co-designing new, more effective funding models will enable future businesses like Holo Art to thrive.

What is one key factor behind your company’s success?

We have carefully curated a community of heart-based leadership, and this means assuaging the ego to allow creative collective intelligence to thrive and flourish. We include children, AI, and people from various socioeconomic backgrounds in our midst resulting in the antithesis of current homogeneous groups; we have artists painting by candlelight in the global south and UHNW individuals presenting on Davos stages. The result is pure magic as we bond over the possibility of imagination and a preferred future vision for humanity. We are promoting the adage ‘Sapere vedare’, learning how to see.

There is a need to think, create, and behave differently. This means evolving art and science from solo fields, fusing concepts and adopting systems thinking to see the interrelated entanglement of business decisions: from sourcing sustainable materials, human resources and talent pipelines to distribution and multi-generational impact of investments, we need to, as much as possible, strive to ‘sense’ the whole picture to be able to make strong business decisions. This then, requires multiple perspectives to reveal blind spots and think outside of the proverbial box.

It also necessitates the cultivation of personal pattern recognition to identify opportunities even when one does not have all the information at hand. In a data obsessed, linear, and quarterly ledger focused business world, innovation is risky, and most companies have a small threshold for risks. Balancing this with calculated pushing of boundaries is a fine art, suspension of assumptions and a willingness to be open to ideas in the spirit of improvisation, we always say : “Yes, and..?”

How do you stay motivated and focused on your goals?

Self care and well being are key to winning the marathon, not a series of sprints. This means deep meditation, sleep, nutrition, and exercise for peak performance. In addition to this, explore intergenerational trauma recovery and know you are the result of the 5 people closest to you. At Holo, we carefully curate positive energy, integrity, and people who are passionate about the future of humanity.

This means we are also equipped with the know how to navigate conflict resolution and deep dialogue across generations, cultures, and paradigms. We consume good content, we foster positive, trusting relationships, and we focus on what we want more of: quantum coherence.

What advice would you give to young professionals starting out in their careers or entrepreneurial endeavors?

Don't be afraid and embrace humility to roll up your sleeves, be willing to scrub toilets, vacuum conference rooms, and pick up coffee. CEO of NVIDIA, Jensen Huang says he has scrubbed more toilets than most, Tom Cruise has done the same. The point? There is no job too menial. As an entrepreneur you must be organized, open minded, and able to wear multiple hats at the same time: CEO, CFO, CMO, CIO, CTO, etc.

Humility to admit when you need to pivot, pay attention to both big and small details, see the forest for the trees, and speak with the janitor and secretary in the same way as with an Executive Chairman or President. Respecting the inherent value of everyone, fostering a sense of community, and creating a roadmap while also being open to the unknown. Entrepreneurship is hard, resilience, and grit are essential. Do something that fuels your passion, turn it into play, and never work a day in your life.

How do you handle setbacks or failures in business?

This too, shall pass. Success is defined by personal metrics. It comes and goes.

Material wealth is fleeting, and ultimately, not a path to long term fulfillment. Rather, it is the quality of our relationships, with ourselves, with our families, and with others, that determines life satisfaction, self-actualization, happiness, and contentment. This is also true in business with the mission, vision, and values of your business plan. Building consensus amongst diverse stakeholders, prioritizing quality, and paying attention to emerging needs of clientele are instrumental in building a solid foundation to overcome hurdles.

There are certain pillars that stay constant over the course of our lives: sense of self, dignity, family, friends, leisure activities, time management, executive function, and a sense of purpose that acts as a beacon, a guiding light. These factors feed directly into being able to handle the stress and burnout that accompanies successfully surfing the peaks and troughs of riding the waves of the business world.

Clearly articulating telos, continual adaptation toward reinvention, and staying grounded are key in maintaining momentum in the face of challenges. Every setback or failure is an opportunity, turn them into blessings and bounce back. It’s not how many times you fall down, but how many times you get back up.

Learn from setbacks quickly and move on.

What do you think makes a great leader?
Empathy, active listening, situational, and contextual leadership. A willingness to learn and surrounding yourself with a team that is smarter than you. You are the culmination of the 5 people closest to you. Choose wisely.

At Holo Art we focus on curating leaders who beleive and practice “heart based leadership”.. often the heart is wiser than the rational side, quantumly computing what our logical thinking fails to see… most of our decisions are made based on subconscious thoughts, emotions, beliefs, and attitudes… and, when the heart is clear, beautiful energy flows. Situational, contextual leadership is this.. knowing when to adapt to different styles for specific outcomes.

The need to feel loved as a leader is an ego based phenomenon of adoration in social dynamics… building consensus, actively (deep) listening, and vulnerability are also traits that ought to make the list. Long gone is the day of the archetypal hero’s journey as a lone leader… we now need leaders who can follow, who can work across divides and build bridges based on common ground and universal human ideals.

How do you maintain a work-life balance while leading a company or team?

That is a hard question for founders. Once settled, modeling work life balance is now more of an illusion. In global markets and the need to be continually plugged in and ‘on’, I schedule time in my calendar to do nothing, to research, to connect with new thought leaders, and push myself to grow in ways that feed into nourishing the body, mind, and soul.

We cannot adapt to an unhealthy and sick society in healthy ways. We can only try to move the dial toward a new definition of what work life balance means. In ancient civilizations, it was a cultural and society ideal, values held by renaissance cultures. For example, days of rest, days of celebration, days of learning were embedded in the DNA of governance and collective work-life balance. We need to make time to study, read, and cross pollinate ideas creating magnificent art and science. Especially now in a post-industrial age where two-income households and urban sprawl (isolated single-dwelling homes, long commutes, etc.) means less time to dedicate to well-being, it’s important to prioritize time away from work. Setting boundaries and modeling behaviour for your team are key. Learning to use the law of dissipative states to manage the stress and pressures of modern life are vital.

How has your industry changed since you started, and how have you adapted?

Everything is always changing, that is the only constant: the key to this is improvisation and the ability to adapt, pivot, and be as resilient as possible in the face of multiple challenges. There is a need for belief in purpose, vision, mission, and values. The rest follow with passion, play, creativity, and good business sense.

What’s the best piece of career advice you’ve ever received?

I am still waiting! LOL

Be kind. To everyone. Even to the people who you encounter who may be jealous, sabotaging, or less than ideal. Everyone carries baggage and in current career trajectories, there is a need for collaborative, relational networks.

Express gratitude daily, and practice creative, proactive actions, less reactive and prone to trends, fads, and movements without substance. Tell your team how much you appreciate them, develop your generalist skills, and be willing to push the boundaries of what you think you know. The neuroscience of social dynamics shows emotions are contagious, spread them intentionally, and develop emotional intelligence to co-regulate the emotions of your teams and clientele.

Building a career is challenging in this climate. Learn something new every day, do your research, and due diligence. Develop grit and perseverance. Become a polymath and never forget the foundational pillars in building what you desire: integrity, values, and compassion, all beacons that lead the charge when it comes to success: and the metrics are strictly personal. Whatever industry you choose to work in, keep this as your guiding light: try to leave the world in a better state that you found it and always choose love over fear. Trust yourself, follow your gut and intuition, and become a lifelong learner.
